1 pm golden hour
Took on the town with GIRKM on Sunday.
What’s a GIRKM you ask? Very simple: a collection of fine american ladies living their best european biddie lives in Copenhagen who also happen to mostly live together with a few exceptions. Grace, Izzy, Rianna, Karina, Mia. Actually we all just really wanted to go see those trampolines that everyone posts pictures of when they’re in Copenhagen and decided to christen ourselves in the most unoriginal way possible.
We started out in Nørrebro pre-Izzy joining us for a scenic walk which ended up being a super extra photoshoot. Nørrebro has so many cute cafes, parks, and awesome graffiti and architecture so there is a lot to see. Its also nice that it is a bit more laid back than central downtown Copenhagen (cue me taking pictures in the middle of the street when no cars were coming… come on, the buildings were so pretty!)
I really do like being in this neighborhood. Yeah, its a little bit further away from the center of the city and I have to get up a bit earlier for class, but I don’t mind. It’s a nice vibe, and did I mention the shawarma??? Im excited for the weather to get nicer and for it to be easier for me to bike and walk around. It will also be nice when there’s more sunlight. Not a fan of the whole 4pm sunset thing. SAD hittin me hard but hopefully hygge will save me until we get to that whole “midnight sun” part of the deal of living in Scandinavia. Golden hour here hits at about 1 or 2 pm.. whats up with that?!

After Nørrebro, we bussed it down to central Copenhagen to meet Izzy and go to the trampolines. They. Were. So. Fun. And so many cute kids there! All the little snow babies here wear these one piece puffy snowsuits and pointy hats and they run around with rosy cheeks when they aren’t snugly wrapped up in their strollers. We shared the trampolines with them and acted like a bunch of big kids bouncing up and down for longer than was probably appropriate for a bunch of twenty year olds. It was great though.
After bouncing our hearts out, we were all STARVING because we also hadn’t eaten all day. We wandered around for a while and started to get a bit cold and hangry, so we finally settled on getting burgers. We needed it after Saturday night… and oh lord that was the best burger I’ve ever had in my life. It was cheesy and saucy and there was love fried right into it I swear. I think I drooled.
Overall, a really great day! Izzy, Rianna, and I sat in a cafe for a while before going to dinner and talked, and then Izzy and I went to the BEST mediterranean restaurant called Riz Raz and got an all you can eat “green buffet” (think all different mediterranean salads, falafel, pita, hummus, and spinach lasagna). I will definitely be back! Here are the rest of our pics
